Jonathan Newman Qualifications: Partner, Qualified Veterinary Surgeon
Jonathan graduated from Cambridge University in Zoology in 1991 and in Veterinary Medicine in 1994. He worked for a veterinary hospital for 7 years as the senior veterinary surgeon over a large number of branches, responsible for both clinical standards, client care and staff welfare. In 2002, he started Newman Watters with Jane here in
Qualifications: Partner, Qualified Veterinary Surgeon, Clinical Coach Jane graduated from As a qualified nurse assessor, Jane is also responsible for nurse training and welfare and is very proud of our 100% success rate at the RCVS Nurse Qualification. She has three cats, Tibble-Wibble, Bunny and Pink, rabbits and three hens.
Qualifications: Qualified Veterinary Surgeon A 1997 Glasgow graduate, Martin has been associated with the practice since 2002, but formally joined our veterinary team 4 years ago. His clinical interests include skin disease and feline medicine and he is also responsible for pet booster reminders and supervising the practice stock control. Martin has two cats, Pablo and Eek and a rabbit called Toffee.
Qualifications: Qualified Veterinary Surgeon Kerry is a graduate from Liverpool University. She joined Newman Watters in 2006. Clinically, Kerry has a special interest in microbiology, which she studied at university for a year additionally to her veterinary degree. Kerry is also very interested in guinea pig husbandry and medicine and has 4 guinea pigs herself, Daisy Lou, Betty Boo and Peggy Sue as well as a very vocal cat called Seth. Kerry is responsible for the clinical audits in the practice which ensures that we maintain the highest standards in areas such as anaesthetic safety, radiography and post-operative infection rates.
Qualifications: Veterinary nurse Jes joined Newman Watters in January 2008, bringing a degree in zoology with her. As well as a love of domestic species, Jes is also interested in conservation work and has spent time in
Qualifications: Veterinary nurse Marie studied for a degree in psychology from the University of Lincoln, before deciding to pursue a career with animals. She then worked at Waltham Pet Centre for 3 years as an animal technician, before moving to Newman Watters in 2008. She quickly integrated into the team here, taking on responsibility for insurance claims and other administrative tasks. Marie is in the second year of her nursing qualification - this enables her to focus on the further development of her clinical skills during her formal training. Tasks achieved are recorded on the new on-line nursing log, which means that her IT skills are also required. Marie has two cats, Brandy and Jack, both ex-Waltham food tasters!
Qualifications: Veterinary nurse Since joining the Newman Watters team in October 2008, Amy has become a key member of the practice, performing vital administration tasks to a high standard, as well as gaining a grounding in clinical work. Amy, like Marie, is now in her second year of formal training and attends Bottle Green college every Monday where she attends lectures, tutorials and practical sessions in anatomy and physiology and general nursing of all companion animals, including horses. Amy has a dog called Alfie and a cat called Molly. Both Amy and Marie consistently come in at the top of their classes and are doing brilliantly!
Daisy joined Newman Watters in July 2010, following 6 years in the retail sector and brings customer care and team skills to the practice. She has attended the 'reception purrfection' course where she further refined her ability to provide a high quality of service for our pet owners. She has a cat, Vlad, and a hyperactive English Bull Terrier, Nox. Nox is a bit of a handful and a real character!
Yasmin has been known to Newman Watters since attending work experience with us three years ago. She joined the practice as a full-time member of staff in June 2010, since which she has developed her animal handling skills and her telephone communication. She spent some time last year volunteering at Moholoholo Rehabilitation Centre in South Africa with cheetahs and other exciting wildlife! Yasmin lives with a pug called Smudge and a conure called Rocky. She also attended the 'reception purrfection' course.
